Top FAQs From the Product Release
1. How does Pricing Sync work with Bókun and other connectivity partners? Will my pricing update automatically on Viator?
Price, availability, capacity, dates, and departure or opening times are fetched from connectivity partners like Bókun that have built integrations into Viator. Pricing schedules are then generated automatically so you don’t need to edit them manually in Viator. Updates made in the booking software are reflected on Viator in near real time, regardless of the update frequency.
2. How can I automatically connect new products, availability, and inventory from my booking system to Viator?
When your Viator account is connected to a supported reservation system or booking software partner, you can connect products to sync bookings and availability. You can also choose to use full automatic schedule generation via the new Pricing Sync feature. This applies to both new and existing products. Be sure to connect your products and turn on Pricing Sync to utilize these powerful features. When creating a new product in Viator that already exists in your booking software, you can select the matching product from a list so it’s connected right from the start. For existing unconnected products, you can use the “Connectivity” tab in the product editor to set up a connection.
3. How does the AI Product Builder work, and can I use it to edit or improve existing product pages and photos?
All AI-generated content can be edited before submission. Currently, the AI Product Builder is designed only to be used for new products, but Viator is exploring ways to enhance existing listings as well. Suppliers using the tool have seen strong results, including increased bookings and revenue.
4. How does TikTok distribution work, and what commissions or fees apply to bookings from that channel?
As long as your product listing is live on Viator, no manual work is required from suppliers to sell through partner distribution channels. Viator manages channel integrations so suppliers can benefit automatically. (Specific commission structures may vary by channel.)
5. How can I improve my product’s ranking, visibility, and relevance in Viator search results?
Key actions include keeping future availability open, using Pricing Sync, improving listing quality, adding more than seven photos, using tools like Special Offers and Accelerate, refreshing content with AI Product Builder, and improving your photos with our Super Resolution tool. Travelers who view more photos are significantly more likely to book.
6. What is replacing the Tripadvisor Experience Awards, and how will supplier recognition work going forward?
Viator is focusing on Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice, a globally recognized travel award with stronger traveler influence and wider media exposure. This gives winning products greater visibility across Tripadvisor, Viator, and external media channels. Travelers’ Choice recognition is based on consistently strong traveler reviews (on both Tripadvisor & Viator) and ratings over time. One of the most impactful things you can do is encourage your customers to share their feedback.
7. How is Viator improving chargeback protection and supporting suppliers in customer disputes or cancellations?
We’ve introduced “No Show” reporting, helping suppliers generate a 73% win rate for chargebacks. This is a dedicated tool in the Supplier Management Center that allows you to officially notify Viator when a traveler fails to arrive for their scheduled booking without prior cancellation. You should report it as soon as the scheduled start time has passed and you have confirmed the traveler is not coming. This ensures that the booking status is accurate in the system.
8. How are reviews moderated, and what can suppliers do about inaccurate or unfair reviews?
You’re able to see, manage, and respond to your Viator and Tripadvisor reviews directly in your Reviews tab. To ensure that Tripadvisor remains a safe and trustworthy source for travelers, Tripadvisor has specific guidelines around reviews. In short, they must be original, unbiased, honest, respectful, and helpful for fellow travelers. You can read the full guidelines here.
